Bladder substitution using bowel has improved the quality of life of c
ystectomy patients. However, late complications are not rare and may i
nclude deterioration of the upper tract, malignancy or stricture of th
e retained urethra, stone formation and spontaneous rupture of the neo
bladder.(1) We report a unique complication of severe hematuria due to
schistosomiasis of the ileal neobladder.
