Es. Pretorius et al., RECURRENT FIBROMATOSIS IN A PATIENT WITH BREAST-CARCINOMA - COMPUTED-TOMOGRAPHY FINDINGS WITH MAGNETIC-RESONANCE-IMAGING AND PATHOLOGICAL CORRELATION, Investigative radiology, 30(6), 1995, pp. 381-383
FIBROMATOSES ARE RARE benign proliferations of fibrous tissue that ten
d to be locally aggressive and recurrent, They may appear alone or in
association with other malignancies. Desmoid tumor is a type of fibrom
atosis usually associated with the abdominal wall and the appearance o
f such tumors on computed tomography (CT) is well known.(1-3) Desmoid
tumors and other fibromatoses may be confused with other soft tissue t
umors, including sarcomas, as well as with adenopathy, We present the
CT findings of superficial fibromatosis occurring in the context of an
other malignancy, breast carcinoma, and simulating local tumor recurre
nce.
