Tk. Kim et al., THERMOLUMINESCENCE INDUCED BY CS-137 GAMMA-RAYS IN ION-IMPLANTED AL2O3, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 28(4), 1995, pp. 519-523
Thermoluminescence curves from Na-ion-implanted Al2O3 irradiated by Cs
-137 gamma rays, from Al2O3 irradiated only with Cs-137 gamma rays, an
d from Al2O3 implanted only with Na+ Cs-137 but without irradiation we
re measured over the temperature range of 340-620 K. The TL curve indu
ced by Cs-137 gamma-ray irradiation of Al2O3 implanted with Na+ has tw
o shoulders located at 407 K and 415 K and three TL peaks at 452 K, 50
8 K, and 568 K. The 452-K TL peak intensity of induced by Cs-137 gamma
-ray irradiation Na-ion-implanted Al2O3 is higher than that from Al2O3
implanted only with Na+ and that from Al2O3 irradiated with only Cs-1
37 gamma rays. The Cs-137-gamma-ray-induced TL intensity of ion-implan
ted Al2O3 is sensitive to the number of vacancies generated by ion imp
lantation and to the projected ion range. The TL intensity dependence
is found to have a very close relation with the ion dose, the energy,
and the species.
