Abstract
Based on the visualized flow behaviour of Al10SiMg alloy melt in Saffi l chopped fibre preforms, unidirectional infiltration of a chopped fib re preform aided by squeeze pressure has been analysed. The relationsh ips between melt flow and process parameters have been statistically e stablished by the hydrodynamic analysis. The stress distribution, the variation of saturation degree and the formation of cavities due to ai r entrapment in the preform during infiltration have been discussed to gether with the analysis results.
