Two types of polyazomethines containing repetitive pairs of a tridenta
ted ligand and an oligodimethylsiloxane in the backbone were synthesiz
ed and complexed with cobalt ion. The resulting polymer complex membra
nes showed very good oxygen permselectivity at 1 atm pressure differen
ce, which is very close to the upper boundary line in an alpha vs. P-O
2 plot of data reported in the literature. The complexes are thought t
o function as oxygen carrier.
