Immediate short-term group co-therapy treatment for psychological trau
ma has been proven an effective transitional step in normalizing power
ful emotional reactions to overwhelming catastrophic events. Most surv
ivors provided with the safety and human connections of a group, learn
to cope successfully while gradually regaining a sense of hopefulness
. The underreported therapeutic value of focusing on techniques extern
alizing the trauma and instilling a belief in human resilience is disc
ussed. This article describes comprehensive procedures and techniques
to improve the quality of treatment for trauma survivors, including th
