The possibility of synthesis of 1,1-dichloro-4-methyl-1,4-pentadiene b
y electrochemical reduction of 4-methyl-1,1,1-trichloro-4-penten-2-ol
is shown. Influence of cosolvent nature, supporting electrolyte, and c
athode material on the reduction process is studied. The maximum yield
of the final product (74 - 82% by substance and 54 - 66% by current)
is obtained in the system isopropanol-p-toluenesulfonic acid on lead c
athode.
