Abstract
The influencing factors on the lifetime of carbon stripper foil were r eviewed, which included methods of preparation, thickness and impuriti es of carbon foil, and the dose rate, fluence and mass of ions during ion bombardment etc., especially the methods of preparation. The mecha nisms of foil failure were discussed. An access of improvement of the foil lifetime was proposed.
