Jp. Quintana et al., SYNCHROTRON EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ON AN UNRIBBED SAGITTALLY FOCUSING CRYSTAL MONOCHROMATOR, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 362(2-3), 1995, pp. 592-594
Results are reported on the performance of a novel sagittally focussin
g crystal monochromator design that minimizes the anticlastic bending
without the use of ribs. With a demagnification factor of 357, 2.2 mra
d of the radiation from an NSLS bending magnet are focussed to a spot
size with a FWHM of 363 mu m which is 12% larger than the ideal focus
size with a beam intensity 2.0 X 10(9) photons s(-1) mA(-1) at 8 keV.
The beam intensity changes by 5% when changing the sagittal bend radiu
s from 1.81 to 4.09 m thereby demonstrating that the anticlastic curva
ture effect is negligible.
