Tk. Ko et al., OPTIMAL-DESIGN OF THE SUPERCONDUCTING PERSISTENT CURRENT SWITCH WITH RESPECT TO THE HEATER CURRENTS AND THE OPERATING CURRENTS, IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity, 5(2), 1995, pp. 262-265
The temperature characteristics of the persistent current switch (PCS)
were analyzed by using the heat transfer equations. The optimal condi
tions for the design of the PCS were derived in this paper. The maximu
m operating current in a persistent mode was 100A(at 1.5T). The PCS wa
s opened after several tens msec by heater currents. The heater curren
t which could minimize thermal losses was 150mA. The experimental resu
lts of the designed PCS agreed well with the calculated results.
