N. Tomita et al., DEVELOPMENT OF SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS USING BI-2212 AG TAPES/, IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity, 5(2), 1995, pp. 520-523
Several pan-cake type coils were fabricated using Bi-2212/Ag tapes pre
pared by the combination of continuous dip-coating process and melt-so
lidification and tested in various temperatures and bias fields. A sma
ll Bi-2212/Ag double stacked pan-cake coil(13mm phi(inner bore)/46.5mm
phi(outer diameter)) was used as an insert magnet of a conventional s
uperconducting magnet system. In the bias field of 20.9T, the generate
d field of the Bi-2212/Ag coil was 0.9, at the I-c value of 310A(crite
rion 10(-13)Ohm m), in the saturated superfluid helium temperature(sim
ilar to 1.8K). Thus, this superconducting magnet system achieved gener
ation of magnetic field of 21.8T in the full superconducting state. La
rger Bi-2212/Ag double stacked pan-cake type magnet (20mm phi(inner bo
re)x9 4 m m phi(outer)) was also fabricated, The generated fields of t
he magnet at 4.2K in 0 and 20T bias fields were 2.6T (I-c=385A(10(-13)
Ohm m)) and 1.08T (I-c=160 A(2x10(-13)Ohm m)), respectively. At about
20K, in helium gas, the generated field of the magnet was 1.53T (I-c=2
25A(10(-13)Ohm m)).
