Abstract
Designers of conductors for ITER TF coils selected Nb3Sn as strand mat erial. As the influence of stress and strain on superconducting proper ty in Nb3Al conductor is smaller than Nb3Sn conductors, Nb3Al has beco me a potentially attractive candidate. However, the industrial product ion has not yet been developed at the level of Nb3Sn. It is of interes t the evaluation of the use of cable-in-conduit-conductor for the ITER TF coils. The assessment is done considering alternative jaket materi al (stainless steel), manufacturing approaches (winding of reacted con ductors) and performance of the final conductor in the operating condi tions of ITER TF coils.
