Abstract
An HTS-walled and sapphire-loaded class of microwave cavities is descr ibed whose low TE modes show a frequency maximum at a controllable tem perature. This makes the resonant frequencies of such passively compen sated cavities independent or invariant of temperature at this point. Two different experimental realizations are presented. For a 7.8 GHz T E 011 mode, one cavity exhibited a frequency shift of less than 12 kHz over a 25 degree range, centered at 115 Kelvin.
