High-J(c) YBa2Cu3Oy thick films were by the liquid phase epitaxy (LPE)
. The growth rate was typically about 2 mu m/min, which was 10-10(2) t
imes larger than that by conventional vapor growth techniques. The T-c
of the best film exceeded 88K after oxygen annealing, and the transpo
rt zero-field J(c) was over 10(5) A/cm(2) at 77 K. The peak effect in
J(c)-B characteristics was observed at several tesla by magnetic and t
ransport measurements. Based on the micro-structure, the relevant peak
effect is considered to be caused by stacking faults which act as a f
ield induced pinning center.
