There exists a large spectrum of plastic deformation models for polycr
ystalline materials. Each model describes the interaction between a gr
ain and a surrounding average matrix. In this work, two models were us
ed for the interpretation of standard diffraction experiments to deter
mine the residual stresses in plastically deformed polycrystalline mat
erials. The advantage of the presented method is that both the first a
nd the second order stresses can be estimated.
