Fc. Tammen et al., EXPERIENCES WITH A CONSERVATIVE TREATMENT FOR LEFT DISPLACEMENT OF THE ABOMASUM IN CATTLE IN A FIELD PRACTICE, Praktische Tierarzt, 76(8), 1995, pp. 707-709
In a field practise in northern Germany during the past ten Sears 994
cases of abomasal displacement in Frisian cattle could be diagnosed, T
he relationship LDA: RDA was 3,2 : 1. With this increasing frequency a
rose the difficulty to operate all patients. For LDA a conservative tr
eatment based on replacement of the abomasum by rolling the animal ove
r its back and subsequent fixation of the right hind leg of the standi
ng cow was established. Of 350 cows only treated by rolling 231 (66 pe
rcent) could be cured; of 310 cows treated by rolling and subsequent f
ixation of the right hind leg 268 (87 percent) recovered. This modifie
d conservative treatment gives the practitioner the possibility of a s
imple quick and successful treatment of LDA.
