Abstract
The cuprate anion in the title complex, dilithium anhydro-beta-D-gluco sidato(2-)-O-2,O-4]cuprate(II) octahydrate, Li-2[Cu(C6H8O5)(2)].8H(2)O , is a homoleptic mononuclear 1,3-polyolato(2-) complex. The ligator a toms of the levoglucosan ligand are closer together by ca 0.4 Angstrom with respect to the uncomplexed 1,3-diol moiety of the anhydro suger, thus exhibiting an enhanced flexibility compared with 1,2-diols.
