Abstract
The ocean response to wind perturbations is investigated using a three -dimensional barotropic model of the ocean circulation. Calculations s how that wind variability produces non-stationary large-scale ocean ci rculation and eddies. An analysis of eddies generation, evolution, wes tern drift and non-linear interaction between eddies and with non-stat ionary forced currents in given.
