Abstract
This article discusses hydrochemical observational data obtained durin g the 16th cruise of the r/v ''Vityaz'' in the near-Gibraltar Atlantic region. It is shown that the transformed intermediate Levant waters o f the Mediterranean Sea determine hydrochemical properties of intra-th ermocline Atlantic lenses. Lenslike eddies differ from the surrounding Atlantic waters in their pH and alkalinity values, oxygen content and nutrient element concentration.
