Abstract
Many dyads containing xanthene dyes and viologens linked with differen t spacers were synthesized and characterized. The fluorescence quantum yields of dyes in the dyads were measured and the quenching efficienc ies were calculated by comparison with dye models and discussed with r espect to structural factors.
