Abstract
Oxidation of p-unsubstituted naphthols 1, 3-6 with 2 equivalents of (d iacetoxyiodo)benzene in methanol or ethylene glycol gives the correspo nding monoacetals of naphthoquinone 2, 7-13, in good yield. The oxidat ion of the 8-hydroxiquinoline 14 in methanol or ethylene glycol is als o reported.
