We describe the preparation of heteroaromatic analogues of combretasta
tins, which are natural products with structure of diphenylethanes. We
have named heterocombretastatins those new analogs. Their synthesis h
as been achieved by alkylation of 1,3-dithianes as the key step for th
e construction of the carbon framework. By this methodology, we have o
btained eleven compounds belonging to four different families.
