The title compound, C7H18N82+.2Cl(-).2H(2)O, has been found to exist a
s the anti-anti isomer, with an all-trans configuration the bis(amidin
ohydrazone) chain, just like glyoxal bis(amidinohydrazone) and all its
mono- and dialkylglyoxal analogues studied so far. The bis-(amidinohy
drazone) backbone of the dication is planar in contrast to the corresp
onding sulfate salt.
