Abstract
The nonlinear effects of large amplitude ion acoustic wave are studied theoretically and experimentally, so as to obtain the amplitude thres hold for producing the nonlinear effects, the half width of the trappe d region and the transitional region width caused by collisions. The e xperimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical predict ions.
