Abstract
Measurements of disoriented chiral condensates in heavy ion collisions
can yield fundamental information on the nature of the QCD phase tran
sition. I review theoretical efforts to understand the evolution of th
e condensate and explore the conditions under which the nascent RHIC e
xperiments can distinguish dec signals from heavy ion backgrounds.
