Jr. Tostes et al., CARBON-CARBON AND CARBON-HYDROGEN HYPERCONJUGATION IN NEUTRAL ALCOHOLS, Journal of molecular structure. Theochem, 388, 1996, pp. 85-95
A short review of hyperconjugation is presented emphasizing carbon-car
bon and carbon-hydrogen hyperconjugation in neutral alcohols of differ
ent sizes and geometries. Charge distribution and geometrical paramete
rs, involving adjacent 'acceptor' carbon-hydrogen and carbon-carbon bo
nds such as those found on methanol ethanol, 2-propanol t-butanol, exo
and endo norbornol as well as their tetra-penta- and hexacyclic analo
gs in different conformations provide sensitive probes for hyperconjug
ation.
