Arbuscular mycorrhizae were absent in 75 individuals of Deschampsia an
tarctica (Antarctic hair-grass) collected from the Palmer Station area
, Antarctica, and the accompanying soil sampled had no mycorrhizal inf
ectivity. However, D. antarctica was capable of forming typical arbusc
ular mycorrhizae infections with Glomus intraradices and Glomus etunic
atum in the greenhouse.
