Abstract
Field experiments were performed by growing wheat plants in two differ ent pedoclimatic regions to evaluate the effectiveness of NBPT in slow ing down urea hydrolysis in the presence or absence of DCD, a nitrifyi ng activity inhibitor. An accumulation of urea was observed in NBPT tr eatment; NH4+ content was lower than urea-treated soils. The combinati on of DCD with NBPT led to a degradation of urea up to the levels of u rea-NBPT treatment.
