Abstract
This paper describes recent studies on cancer incidence among Japanese atomic bomb survivors. The report includes a brief description of the primary atomic bomb survivor cohorts. The results illustrate the magn itude of the excess risks and show how these risks vary with sex, age at exposure and time. Descriptions are presented in terms of both exce ss relative risks and excess absolute rates. The paper also includes a summary of the current status of research on biomarkers of radiation exposure in the atomic bomb survivors.
