Abstract
Signal pathways in taste receptor cells reach from apical events, like binding of a tastant to a receptor, through intracellular processes a nd basolateral regenerative ion channel activity to the release of tra nsmitter. The responses are now being investigated with patch clamping , monitoring of intracellular messengers including Ca2+, and molecular cloning.
