A restudy of the Ag-Tl-Te ternary system confirmed four phases along t
he Ag2Te-Tl2Te join: Ag9TlTe5 Ag8Tl2Te5, TlAgTe and Tl3AgTe2. Two addi
tional, Te-enriched phases were identified off the join: The Ag6TlTe4-
Ag7TlTe4.5 series and the Ag19TlTe(12)-Ag27TlTe16 series. In the margi
nal Tl-Te system, the stable existence of the controversial Tl2Te phas
e is confirmed. The Tl5Te3 s.s. series shows, in contrast to the previ
ous reports, a maximum breakdown temperature of 440 degrees C near the
Tl9Te5 composition.
