Five red supergiants of the globular cluster NGC 330 of the SMC were s
tudied using medium-resolution spectra (similar to 5 Angstrom>, throug
h the perturbation method of Cayrel et al. (1991). The G-band region w
as synthesized for deriving their carbon abundances, and these were co
mpared to previous results obtained from high resolution spectra. A me
tallicity [M/H] approximate to -0.67, and a mean carbon abundance of e
psilon(C) = 7.7 are found for the 5 stars.
