Abstract
Spatial ring-shaped distribution of atoms in magneto-optical traps can be produced when the Gaussian laser beams used in the trap are misali gned as in a race-track geometry, We use a new version of the time of flight technique to determine the temperature and velocity distributio n of the atoms in the ring, We found results which are consistent with the Doppler theory of laser cooling.
