The Forest Management Advisory System (FMAS) is a decision support sys tem for the management of even-aged stands of aspen and red pine. The attached disk contains the program FMAS for IBM PC-compatible micro-co mputers running the Microsoft WindowsTM operating system. The performa nce of FMAS has been evaluated and tested to a reasonable degree. Howe ver, FMAS is a free, public domain research product and NOT a finely p olished, completely field tested and debugged commercial grade product . A a proof-of-concept prototype. FMAS is most appropriately used for (1) teaching; (2) exploring aspen and red pine forest management optio ns, and (3) as a starting platform for further development.
