Abstract
The DIRC is a totally internally reflecting Cherenkov imaging detector proposed for particle identification at the asymmetric e(+)e(-) B fac tories. First test results from a conceptual prototype using cosmic mu ons are reported. The photo-electron yield and the single Cherenkov ph oton resolution at various track dip angles and positions along the ra diator bar have been measured. The results are consistent with estimat es and Monte-Carlo simulations.
