Information collected from 145 Nagori animals maintained at the Govern
ment Cattle Breeding Farm, Nagaur (from 1975 to 1992) was analysed by
least-squares maximum likelihood technique. The least-squares means fo
r production traits, viz. milk yield, lactation length, milk yield/day
of lactation, milk yield/day of calving interval and dry period were
535.3+/-18.13 kg, 267.7+/-7.77 days, 2.1+/-0.07 kg, 1.3+/-0.04 kg and
154.7+/-10.35 days, respectively, and for reproduction traits, viz. se
rvice period, gestation period and calving interval, were 120.6+/-5.94
, 283.6+/-0.85 and 423.2+/-11.22 days respectively. Average age at fir
st calving was 1503.2+/-26.92 days and birth weight of calf was 16.9+/
-0.16 kg. Parity had significant influence on all the traits except la
ctation length, gestation period and birth weight. Month of calving af
fected significantly all the production traits except dry period and o
nly service period among the reproduction traits. Period of calving ha
d significant influence on milk yield traits, gestation period and cal
ving interv al. Male calves had significantly higher birth weight than
the female calves. Repeatability and phenotypic correlations among di
fferent traits were also estimated.
