Abstract
This study examines perceptions and objective attribute measures in di screte choice models of recreation site choice behavior. These forms o f attribute measurement are examined in individual and combined reveal ed preference/stated preference models. Our results suggest that the m odel based on perceptions slightly outperforms the models based on obj ective attribute measures. However, issues such as the definition of t he choice set and the measurement of welfare present significant chall enges when using perceptions data. (C) 1997 Academic Press
