Abstract
A novel synthesis of 1-(beta-D-pentopyranosyl)pyridinethione nucleosid es utilizing pyridine-2(1H)-thiones and alpha-bromoxylose or beta-brom oarabinose triacetate as starting components is described. The free nu cleosides were tested for their potential activity against HIV and dif ferent types of tumor virus.
