Abstract
Statistical properties of resonances of the hydrogen atom in a static, experimentally available magnetic field are studied. We show that the relevant parameter is the number of open channels. A rough agreement with a random matrix model is observed, but significant deviations due to the long-range Coulomb potential are reported and explained.
