Abstract
We modified poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-9% hydroxyvalerate) film surfaces with Ar, O-2, H2O/O-2, H2O, and H2O2 vapor plasma treatments. We measu red the grafted oxygen concentration by XPS analyses and the wettabili ty by a theta(H2O) contact angle method. Comparison between these vari ous plasma treatments seems to indicate a better surface wettability c orrelated to C-OH bonds obtained with H2O and H2O2 plasma than with Ar and O-2 plasma which incorporate oxygen atoms in C=O bonds more easil y.
