Abstract
The paper focusses on the practical issues of institutions and resourc es relating to a conference held in November 1994 on the topic, organi zed by the American Council of learned Societies (ACLS) which embraces the U.S. scholarly community in the humanities and social sciences. T he results of statements of conference participants on the internation alization of ist activities and on the internationalization of scholar ship in their fields have been summarized here.
