Abstract
We describe some new results on the analysis of typewritten text using a joint transform correlator. The characters we consider are almost i dentical and binary (i.e. black on white) and we show that small diffe rences, e.g. single pixel differences, cannot necessarily be detected from the correlation peak, but that the mean value of several pixels i n the vicinity of the peak provides a discrimination measure.
