Eight copper(ll) complexes with a tridentate Schiff base and diazoles
such as pyrazole, imidazole, and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole have been invest
igated voltammetrically at a hanging mercury drop electrode in phospha
te buffer of pH 7.4. The complexes undergo a reversible one-electron r
eduction followed by the dissociation of the copper(I) compounds at a
slow scan rate. The half-wave potential and rate constant data are rep
orted and discussed with a superoxide dismutase-like activity of the c
omplexes.
