J. Yang et al., TEMPORARY PHASE-BEHAVIOR OF A SYSTEM CONTAINING DI(HYDROGENATED TALLOWALKYL) DIMETHYL AMMONIUM CHLORIDE-WATER-HEXANE, Journal of dispersion science and technology, 16(6), 1995, pp. 469-493
The phase behavior of a system containing di(hydrogenated tallowalkyl)
dimethyl ammonium chloride (DHTDMAC)-water-hexane was investigated. I
n addition to water and the crystalline DHTDMAC, one isotropic liquid
(a temporary W/O microemulsion) and two liquid crystals were found. Th
e crystalline compound separated from the temporary microemulsion was
identified as DHTDMAC based on the X-ray diffractograms. The effects o
f crystal hydrate of DHTDMAC on the phase behavior with time were stud
ied by low angle X-ray diffraction and light scattering.
