Ma. Pletnev et al., EFFECT OF TETRAALKYLAMMONIUM SALTS ON THE CATHODIC EVOLUTION OF HYDROGEN IN CONCENTRATED ACIDIC BROMIDE SOLUTIONS, Protection of metals, 31(4), 1995, pp. 317-320
The effect of inorganic K+ and organic tetraethyl- (TEA(+)) and tetrab
utylammonium (TBA(+)) bromides on the cathodic evolution of hydrogen i
n concentrated acidic bromide solutions was studied experimentally. Th
e effect of tetraalkylammonium cations on the rate of hydrogen evoluti
on in acidic bromide solutions was shown to result from a change in th
e structure of water in the adsorption layer.
