Abstract
Commercially available lithium hydride, an essentially inert metal hyd ride, can be activated as a hydride source by in situ generated lithiu m alkoxide in the presence of a nickel salt. The obtained new reagent exhibited reducing properties versus alkyl or aryl halides, ketones, e thylenic or sulfurated compounds as well as coupling properties versus aryl halides when prepared in the presence of a ligand.
