Abstract
The Diels-Alder reaction of layered [3.3]orthoanthracenophanes with el ectron-poor dienophiles is studied. OF special interest is the anthrac enonaphthophane, which was found to add naphthoquinone, maleic anhydri de and maleimide favorably from the inside face and N-phenyltriazolind ione and dimethyl azodicarboxylate to the outside.
