POWDER-METALLURGY RESEARCH AT RIST AND POSTECH, KOREA

In spite of a relatively short history, the powder metallurgy (P/M) pr ogram at RIST and POSTECH involves extensive research and development on powder processing technology including metal powder production on a pilot plant scale and the synthesis of new materials via the P/M rout e. The major research interest in P/M lies in developing rapidly solid ified structural materials and the related fabrication and processing technology. With the emphasis on its founding philosophy promoting clo se cooperation among industry, university and research centers, RIST/P OSTECH has developed extensive collaborations with industries includin g POSCO and has continued to play a leading role in the Korean P/M com munity.
