Abstract
Syntheses and antiviral evaluation of a number of 1,2-O-isopropylidene -alpha-D-gluco(xylo)-furanoses (5-12) against encephalomyocarditis vir us (ECMV) and semliki forest virus.(SFV) have been discussed. Only one compound propyl]-1,2-O-isopropylidine-alpha-D-glucofuranose (9) could protect the infected mice to an extent of 60% and 70% against EMCV an d SFV respectively.
