SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL-ACTIVITY OF 4-THIAZOLIDINONES, 2-AZETIDINONES, 4-IMIDAZOLINONE DERIVATIVES HAVING THYMOL MOIETY

Several new 4-nitrosothymol 4-aminothymol, 4-hydroxy-5-isopropyl-2-met hylbenzalylidene aniline (2), ethylphenyl)-5'-H/methyl/carboxymethylth iazolidin- 4-ones (3), droxy-5'-isopropyl-2'-methylphenyl)-2-azetidino nes (4), 1-(4'-hydroxy-5'-isopropyl-2'-methylphenyl) )-2-methy/phenyl- 5-arylidine-4-imidazolinones (5) have been synthesised and screened fo r their antimicrobial and antitubercular activities. The product displ ayed moderate to good antimicrobial and tuberculostatic activities. Th e structures of the products 2, 3, 4, and 5 have been elucidated by el emental analyses and spectral data.
